SERP Exporter is designed to be as private as possible. In short:
SERP Exporter processes search results locally in your browser. Search result data is not transmitted, stored or sold.
What the extension does
- When you click the SERP Exporter icon on a Google search results page, the extension reads the content of that page (the one tab, at that moment) to identify search results.
- Extraction happens entirely inside your browser, using Chrome’s
activeTabandscriptingpermissions. - Extracted results are shown in the extension popup and are only sent anywhere when you choose to copy them to your clipboard or export them as a CSV file to your own computer.
What the extension does not do
- It does not send any data to a remote server. There is no backend.
- It does not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party scripts.
- It does not read or store your browsing history.
- It does not require an account, login, or any personal information.
- It does not run automatically or in the background — it only activates when you click the extension icon.
- It does not access any tab other than the one you’re currently viewing when you click the icon.
Data storage
SERP Exporter does not use chrome.storage or any persistent storage in V1. Extracted results exist only in the popup’s memory while it is open and are discarded when the popup closes, except for whatever you explicitly copy to your clipboard or save via CSV export — both of which are standard browser actions you initiate and control.
Permissions explained
| Permission | Why it’s needed |
|---|---|
activeTab | Lets the extension read the current tab’s content only after you click the icon — no standing access to any page. |
scripting | Lets the extension run its local extraction script in the current tab. |
No host permissions are requested. SERP Exporter cannot see or act on any page you haven’t explicitly activated it on.
Changes to this policy
If SERP Exporter’s data handling changes in a future version (for example, adding optional, clearly-disclosed analytics), this document will be updated first and the Chrome Web Store listing will reflect the change.
